HEEEEEEEEEEEYA!

Because we are leaving this week, DJ and Doyle's Tang Soo Do instructor wanted them to receive their promotions early.

This was a surprise to DJ so he was excited about it. His instructor had nothing but praise for him and gushed at how impressed he was with DJ's ability to grasp the forms and combinations. I have to say that I am impressed, too. The respectful, obedient, quiet kid in the karate class sure isn't the same kid I bring home each night! :)

Notice the sweat dripping down his forehead? That was just the beginning of class.

Look at that determination!

The one thing DJ looks forward to is fighting his instructor. During this fight, he didn't even wait for him to complete his bow. While his instructor was still bowing, DJ gave him a sucker kick to the ankle. That's our boy! Check out his lightening fast hands!

At the end of class, DJ and Doyle received their promotions. Doyle went from a yellow belt to an orange belt and DJ received 2 pieces of electrical tape, I mean 2 stripes. :)

See the glare he has in this picture? His dad had received his belt first and DJ DOES NOT like his dad to have the same color belt as him. So, while he was getting his tape put on his belt, he gave his dad the "see, I'm still more senior than you, bow down to me" look.

Here are my boys proudly displaying their new belts and certificates with their instructor. I'm so proud of them!

Happy Easter!!!!

Happy Easter!

This year neither of the boys wanted to participate in an egg hunt. They did, at least, where their Easter clothes to the community's egg hunt event. Cody went home early with grandma and grandpa because it was too hot and DJ stayed until a minute before the egg hunt then decided he didn't want to participate.

This the the most the two would cooperate when it came to taking their picture together. I think they are tired of the camera!

Meet Yummy Yummy Squirrel

Remember how in a previous post I had mentioned that DJ had a great way of naming animals, stuffed animals, etc?

Although his Beanie Bear given name is Nuts, DJ decided that was not a good (or odd) enough name. So....I introduce to you Yummy Yummy Squirrel.

Why that name you ask? DJ makes the squirrel "bite" his dad and while doing so, the squirrel says YUMMY YUMMY. Makes sense, right?

It's no secret that DJ STILL sleeps in our bed most nights. He never sleeps unaccompanied, though. There are usually 4-5 critters that tag along. During yesterday's nap, there were SIX! I couldn't help but grab the camera (mostly because I have a new one and am excited to use it) and take some pictures.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! May the luck of the Irish be with you. :)

I have always wanted to get DJ one of those "Kiss me I'm Irish" shirts because he looks so Irish (HAHA), but always forget to.

Instead, he has this little Build a Bear bear to represent his Irish side.

DJ is a total stuffed animal fanatic while Cody kicks stuffed animals every chance he gets (live small dogs are equivalent to stuffed animals and unfortunately, get kicked, too).

DJ had to get his immunizations last week (4 of them!) and was NOT happy about it. The last shot stung and he felt it so he wiggled. Doyle said you could actually see the needle bend because he was fighting it so much. POOR GUY!

So...we did what any concerned parent would do, we bought him stuff to help ease his pain. :) The little bear above was one of his "you did a great job" gifts (along with the new Smashbrothers game for the Wii).

DJ has always had a great skill for naming animals and stuffed animals. We already have Danger Cookie the Leopard Gecko, Captain Huggy Face or Swiper is Cody's nickname, Maximus (his nickname for the cat), a stuffed unicorn named Scissors and Nosy is the leopard stuffed animal with a big nose. So it is no surprise that the name for the new stuffed animal is....."St. Patrick's Day"! He's creative. :)

Name that Clone Trooper!

Clone Trooper #1:

Clone Trooper #2:

And I had to throw in a picture of Scooter looking pretty after a grooming. :)

Boys and Bubbles

My brother is in town for a few days. His visits always call for a trip to Toys R Us for DJ. His visits also always include gifts for Scooter. If Scooter doesn't get a gift, he tends to mope around.

At today's Toys R Us trip, DJ and my brother discovered that they sold pet toys now. Scooter received chicken scented/flavored bubbles.

Funny thing is the air totally smelled like chicken!

Scooter was scared of the bubbles at first and wasn't sure what to do.

Cody, however, had his mouth open and was trying to catch them in his mouth.

DJ didn't care for the chicken bubbles so he blew his own bubbles.

Cody finally got tired of bubbles and decided to mow the lawn. :)

We are going to miss this beautiful San Diego "winter" weather!!!!
