Fun in the Sun

It was a rare occasion here yesterday - the wind wasn't blowing at 30 mph! The boys and I took advantage of this and headed out to the park.

DJ headed straight for the rock climb

While Cody waited for DJ to help him on the slide.

Here are a few of DJ posing on the play structure. He's so handsome! :)

Cody is at the imitation phase and tries to copy everything DJ does. Here he is trying to follow DJ up the crooked ladder.
There was a cool area with a park bench and a pretty background so I plopped Cody down on the bench and started snapping away. Doesn't he look so uninterested? He was staring at the playground.
This is his "get that camera out of my face you paparazzi!" face.

Towel Dancing, Music, Fanime and Shadows

Every chance he gets he steals the towels in the kitchen then walks up to the oven to see his reflection and .....

DANCES!!!!

DJ had a fun weekend. He went to his first Fanime with his Uncles. Here he is with his Press Pass.

He had a blast and stocked up on more Pokemons - 3 of them. Here is a picture of him and the one I don't know the name of.

Cody is a music and dance lover and received a new instrument - a saxophone. He (and DJ) LOVE this new noisy toy!

Here is DJ the sax player and his backup dancer, Cody. Cody is so serious that his tongue is sticking out!

Recently, Cody discovered his shadow. The two of them rendezvous around 5 pm every night for a little dancing.

Our Yellow Belt...Again! :)

This past Saturday was DJ's testing for Kajukembo. He was so excited to finally test and get rid of his white belt! :)

Here he is posing before the testing.

DJ's biggest fan. He clapped for DJ after every test.

The kids got tested in 7 different areas:
Balance
Team Work
Coordination
Focus
Control
Memory
(and something else I don't remember)

Here he is with control. He had to walk on bubble wrap and try to not pop any. If you know DJ, you know how heavy his footsteps are. His dad says it sounds like "hams hitting the floor". I thought he would pop the bubbles all the way down! He did pretty good in the beginning. Once he got to the last foot, though, it was like popcorn popping. This ended up being the one category that he needed improvement. That's okay, though. Even his instructor, Cifu, couldn't get through it without popping every step!

Here he is with kicking and punching:

He got 12 out of 14 points and received his certificate and is awaiting his yellow belt to arrive.

Our proud yellow belt.

Eyelashes

One of my favorite photographers "signature" shot is taking pictures of eyelashes. Because both boys were cooperative this morning, I figured I would try it out. Let me know what you think.

Finally! Pictures of DJ!

DJ never likes it when I take pictures of him. When he sees me take the camera out of the bag, he usually starts yelling and running away.

Today, though, I was going to take more pictures of Cody (the more cooperative one), but DJ said "Take lots of pictures of me and send them to everyone you know".

He wanted pictures of him and his friend of the week, Spot. Doesn't he look so sweet?

Cody wanted to get in on the action, too, so he climbed onto the couch and pulled DJ by the neck so that DJ was leaning on his shoulder. Those boys sure do love each other (when they are not fighting)!

Then Cody discovered that they both had heads.

Then....as they do daily, the wrestling match started. Cody usually instigates it. Like how DJ is oblivious to Cody sitting on his back?

Girlfriends and Karate

Cody has his first girlfriend (aside from the nurses that fell in love with him in the hospital).

We were at Dave and Busters last weekend and when it came time to pick out prizes, DJ went CRAZY trying to pick as many SMALL items that he could. We presented a few toys to Cody and most of them received the "toss on the floor" rejection. Just for fun, we offered him stuffed animals because those almost always were quickly thrown to the floor with a grunt of disgust that could only be translated as "how dare you hand this stuffed animal to me. Do you KNOW who I am???".

Spongebob...rejected
Patrick...rejected
Stuffed dog...rejected
Stuffed monkey...rejected
Dora the Explorer ....hugged, kissed, talked to and ACCEPTED!!!!!

(excuse the "professional" images. They were taken with my blackberry)

I didn't take a picture of it, but he even put her feet in the cup holder of his snack tray (on the stroller) so that she was propped up and standing so that he could talk to her.

Here is a picture of the two of them watching Dora on TV. Oh so in love.

After they watched Dora together, though, he tossed her on the floor and went to do something else.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, a couple of pictures of DJ.
DJ has been having such a blast in karate. He misses his old Tang Soo Do class in San Diego, but is having a great time in this class because his two best buds are in the class with him. Here he is with his cousins...
Sadly, when it comes to exercise DJ takes after me and not his superman of a dad who can not run for a year or so and then one day decide to start running like Forrest Gump and run a few miles like he had been doing it for years.
This is DJ's version of a push-up. He does fine on the "up" part, but when it comes back to going down, it is more like he is doing the Downward Dog position in yoga - only the head goes down.
In his defense, though, even if he can't do a full situp unassisted (like mom) or a full pushup (like mom), he can do a mean karate punch, block and kick!
Birthday Bash - Baby Einstein Style
Cody had a blast on his birthday. He partied all day and night and did not fall asleep until 11 that night!!!
Because he is still a Baby Einstein fanatic, we went with a Baby Einstein theme. Although, Yo Gabba Gabba on Nickelodeon has been his favorite TV show lately, so I considered using that theme, but Baby Einstein was cuter.
Plus, it was an easier cake to make...
The party was also for grandma since her birthday is today, Cinco de Mayo.
Here is the handsome, 2 year old birthday boy! Isn't he just the cutest?? Such a little stud!
I love this picture. I was sitting on the floor in front of him and was leaning in to take his picture. Because he is in the "copying" phase, he copied me and leaned forward to get a closer look at the camera. :) I think he looks like a little froggie.
This is one of Cody and DJ's cousins. We call her Chubby Cheeks. :) Can you tell why?
Cody was so excited about everyone singing to him! His smile was so huge as soon as everyone started singing.
When we told him to blow out the candle, he tried to extinguish it with his hands! OOOO...FIRE...
I love this expression! Just like any 2 year old (or any kid for that matter), Cody was not excited about getting clothes. When he looked in this bag and saw a toy, though, his expression was priceless!
One of Cody's gifts was a piano that has a microphone and a chair that doubles as the drum. Cody is such a music fanatic that he LOVED it. He even treated his guests to a concert. Doesn't he have that rockstar look here?
Happy 2nd Birthday Cody!
It's hard to believe that our baby boy is already TWO!!!!! Where did the time go???
Here he is at about 4 months old:
Pictures from his birthday coming soon! :)
